Smile Mileage Milestone

I have to post that I have reached 300K miles on the 96 E300.I cannot say it has not been without some trials and tribulations but the miles my wife and I have put on the car have been great fun. Even with the miles we have on the car I would not hesitate to drive across country in it. This is a testament to the other 606 owners that you have a lot of great driving ahead of you.

Very nice! Highest mileage 96/97 I've seen. What major services have you done to the car in your ownership?

37,500 miles per year, give or take – I assume that’s a combination of city and highway. I must say I’m impressed that a late model MB has held up so well.

I wish I could say I put all of the miles on it. I bought it with 273K on the clock. I have put GP's, ball joints, rear window regulator, and routine maintenance. Not much else and the records I have from the from the PO's do not indicate any major repairs in the cars life time. I actually have the original delivery paperwork from the first owner. I hope to make 500K before I think about finding another one.....maybe I can find a high mileage CDI when that time arrives

97 Diesel Driver now that you mention it I did have to replace the a/c compressor clutch assembly (bearing noise). No other problems except cabin filter replacements. I gotta knock on wood so I dont jinx anything

On the '99 we had the AC compressor replaced. The compressor apparently at one point was making a nailing noise. The climate control panel wouldn't let you manually engage the compressor mode, was in EC until it was replaced.
