On my 1995 E320 (Euro-Spec) wagon, you can run the city lights (1-click) and the clear white driving lights (pull one notch) . You can also run the clear driving lights with the low beams or the high beams. Pulling two notches back runs the clear driving lights on the front and the single rear fog lamp at the rear. My E320 has quite bright lights when its all lit up.

On my 95 4.0 Range Rover, though, the very bright driving lights go out when the high beams are on. The high beams on that truck are incredibly bright. Land Rover designed them to eliminate the need for extra "off-road" lights. They are so bright that unless you're in low range they are turned down a set number of degrees so as not to blind people. That truck also has 2 bright red rear fog lights in their own lenses. With just one fog light on in the Benzes, it looks like you just have an electrical problem(!)

On my Canadian-spec 1992 Range Rover, which has day-running lights (Reduced-output hi-beams, no other lights on) you can run low beam or high beam with the amber fog lights on; you can run just the amber fog lights, or you can run the fogs, the high beams, and the set of Hella Rally 6000 Clear off-road lights that came with the truck from the factory. You do not want to be another car in front of the Rover when all that is on! On the other hand, the power draw is so great that the idle drops a lot and the alternator can overheat at low speeds.

I just found one of these in a scrapyard. I grabbed the bumpers and the headlights. I also picked up the headlight switch and the vacuum adjuster switch.

I'd like to get more control over the fog lights, maybe the functionality is in the switch. I suppose it can't hurt to find out.
