I was in a co-worker's 300SD the other day and I was impressed by how much smoother and quieter it was than my 300DT. They're both the same year (85's) and have the same engines and his even had more miles than my car. Do the SD's have more insulation and better engine damping than the W123's? My co-worker had been in my 300DT before and he was shocked by how noisy and rougher it was and now I understood the reason of his surprise.

Yes, the 126's have more insulation, it looks like a double firewall, very effective. A while back some one was selling insulation "blankets" for 123's on Ebay, I've never tried it...
