I would agree if one of them behaved in this fashion; going way beyond the current bid.

But two of them?

Be interesting to see if it returns.

I find it odd someone can be online that long and not ever bid on something and jump so hard and heavy on something this overpriced. Heck hey HAD to have won on bid before if they are so free with their money. I could always be wrong but on guy 3 years never won anything? sudenly bidding 5 digits on a car worth half as much. I bet those are alter egos this seller of a friend created a long time ago and sat on. Would you remember your password and user ID after 3 years? Or lurk for 3 years on ebay? Something is way fishy......with all those ZERO feedback guys or most anyway.

In a few days, I think I'll send the winner an e-mail and ask him how he likes the SD. I'll tell him that it is a beautiful vehicle and that I was looking for one just like it.

Then we will see what he says.

A little bait for the trash that sits on the bottom.

Well I used to think $14k was way overpriced for a W126. But by the time I get my SDL to look like that (if ever) I will probably have over $10k in it.

Nice W126's are getting hard to come buy and a perfect W126 is not going to be cheap. I still think $14k is a little high but not that high. That car will still need a lot of work. It probably needs a front end rebuild I would imagin that most of the rubber is getting dry.

shills

my guess is a couple of the bidders were in league with the seller (a coordinated sale) and that the last bidder was a sucker.

GREAT idea Brian. I'm with bonehead. Smells fishy to me but the car sure looked nice.

Now before somebody jumps on me for that last comment, no I don't believe the mileage is right. Still a nice looking car though-overpriced by a long shot, but nice.

Let us know what kind of response you get Brian. I'm sure you will.

My bet is its still for sale. Or will be soon...

Cheers,

Bill

Well, he did respond! To wit:

Hey Brian -

Unfortunately, my employer asked me to decide either to relocate to Portland or lose my job by end of December hence I requested the seller to negate the transaction. In fairness, I offered to reimburse him the eBay insertion and final sale fees which I did not mind doing. Truth be told I did not even know I had the winning bid until about 2 days later - - with 5 minutes to go when I put my bid in I was outbid. I called it a night and powered down but apparently the bidder retracted his/her bid and I ended up the winner. That's eBay - - I assume you know. I would have bought that benz - - really wanted a diesel. Anyway, the seller seems alright. He had 1 negative feedback though something about engine problems. Well, hope this helps and good luck to you if you are in the bidding on something. Peace!

Good job Brian.

I wonder what it will "bring" next time?

When it re-appears someone else should contact the 'winner". Let us know when its relisted.

Cheers,

Bill
