Oil leak at filter housing on 84' 300sd (126)

I am new to the forum but have to say THANKS TO ALL for the info on the site. I have an oil leak (approx. 1/2 quart every 2K miles) at the filter housing to engine block seal and have been told it is more trouble than it is worth until it gets worse. Specifically, the issue of the oil line connections becoming damaged during removal. Do you have any advice on this issue?

P.S.- I have been told this is a common leak but cannot find previous threads in the search. I DID find info about a lack of heater temperature (which I have been having) in the search (I will be checking the monovalve this afternoon). WOW, tons of info if you search!!!

I have rebuilt my 84 300SD from the ground up. WOuld be glad to share my stories as you get more involved in your car. The 300SD is a great car and very reliable. Built when they were built like a MB should be.
The problem with the connections I believe come form the concern of having them strip, aluminum into cast iron. How many miles do you have on the engine, 1/2 quart may be somewhat normal. Are you getting drips to the floor? Are you sure it is not the head gasket (common)
Good Luck.
No heat in all modes or all heat in all modes usually indicates monovalve, 10 minute fix at tops.

Thanks for the input. The car has 151,500 miles. There is a small puddle (the size of your palm at most) under the car after driving. I have watched the oil seaping from around the oil filter housing to block seal while the engine is running. As far as I can see there is no oil leaking at the head gasket. I know 1/2 a quart is not bad but I may be trying to sell the car soon (see thread in Diesel forum).
