I'd bet that they're trying to dump this car off on someone, who's eager and willing to buy a classic mercedes.

yeah, I emailed this guy a ton of questions this morning. Haven't heard a peep back yet. You'd think one would be on top of it if one only had three days to sell a car. I mean, whether they are just trying to dump it on somebody or not, they still want to make money.

Man, I just want a nice rust free car. Damn these wierdos. And I haven't had much luck with private dealers in other states becuase they would rather just deal with local people. Easier and no fear of a no show I guess.

yeah so true but doesn't it burn you that some of them can luck themselves somehow into getting some pretty good cars..

My last 45 days of ebay'ing have been less than inflating. Actually won bids on three cars but did not make there un-realistic reserve prices.

Jeeze! They can't give them away; afterall, these cars are well known for their ability to run for over 500,000 miles.

That means you were high bidder but didn't meet reserve, it doesn't mean you won the bidding. Big difference. And to add to R leos comments....they also are known to get 40mpg and up.

1/2 dozen of that 6 of the other. The point I was trying to make was unrealistic expectations on the part of the seller.

While I also have no tolerance for idiotic salespeople, I do have to mention that I have had one experience with the exact opposite. Who knows if everybody does as well, but Mike Cizmek at http://www.contemporarymotorcar.com/ in Erie PA was a straight up, honest and extremely communicative seller. He actually over-stressed the small [quarter-sized] rust spot, it was in better shape than he described. Bought it on Ebay sight unseen, drove it back 2500 miles without a hitch. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another from him. Just had to toss out the other side of the coin!

True, the reserve means they don't end up selling the car for pennies if nobody chooses to bid. But I know what you mean. I wonder if they pay a fee for a reserve not met auction that did get bids?

Yes, the guy I bought my car from was pretty straight forward. Only a few things were not as described, at least in my mind till I went a looked closer at the photoes and it really was as describbed. But lots of scam artists out there. Far more than honest dealers.

You got that right BD, More out to scam than to be fair and honest. If they were honest, they'd put some kind of warranty on the cars. Heck 12,000.miles or 1 year would be great in most cases. You'll never see that though. Maybe in rare cases.

R leo and you left out one thing.

Most cars were never smoked in and never had a dog in them either.

Cheers,

Bill
