Nope. All 126 coupes were gas powered from the factory and only came with V8s (380, 420, 500, 560). They were the pinnacle of the MB lineup. A diesel or M110 or M103 in an S-class coupe would tarnish that grand image. Even as MB started putting diesels in non North American market S-classes after 1992, they still kept them out of the coupe. To this day, MB has never put a diesel engine in a SEC/CL/S coupe and never will.

That’s why I converted a 90 300CE into a diesel with a 603 turbo engine

I bet an s coupe with a diesel would return better economy than a 240d.

a guy on here had one for sale in Ontario Canada with a 617 and a 4 speed in it. i was very interested in that car but the logistics never panned out
