glow plugs service

Does anybody know how much do MB repair shops charge to exchange glow plugs on 300td 1987. If it is too expensive I might try to do it myself.
Thank you!

Hmm, Well I bet you would pay at least $250-$300. Figure about $15.00 a plug and then about 2 hours of labor at or around $75.00 and hour. Thats if he charges for 2 hours and then they may find something else. Usually that's the case. If you have the tools then it'd be better for you to do it.

Hmmm

Roughly:
Labor rate $100 per hour.
Labor time 1 - 2 hours.
Parts $100 for five glow plugs.

Inspection will find other issues on your car.
Educated guess:
They will try to up-sell another $1000 - $3000 of repairs, unless your car is perfect.

Your car may or may not need these repairs.
A second opinion can save you thousands.

Personal opinion:
Do it yourself; there are many threads here with the full procedure.

zxdent,

Why do you want to change the GP on your car? Are you having starting problems?

Did you do a resistance check on the GP? If they are all 0.7 +- 0.2 ohms they are OK.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Why spend a lot of money on something that is probably OK?
