The rear hatch is tweeked- looks like someone hit your car- and took the radio ant. when they did. The drivers trim at that section is tweeked also- which is why I say that. Having two wagons myself I see these things.

For what it's worth, I reiterate that I don't think you're shill-bidding on your own car, and I'm thinking pretty hard about bidding on it myself, depending on how high it goes. I'm no expert, but it looks to me like a great car.

I cast the dissenting vote here. The rust spot, dings and stains in the back carpet are enough that I would look further before I paid that much for this one. The next bid at $3950 when I said this.

I do commend you on honest disclosure of the car's little problems, eBay and the world needs more people with integrity.

Yes I got mad because some were implying I was shill bidding. The wagon will sell for what ever it get to because the reserve has been met.

No the car has not been hit. Unless someone took the car back to Stutguart and had the factory put the it back on the paint line, stripped of everything. The car is 20 years old, it is not a show car and not perfect.

Seems like the group that share a common interest is always the hardest to share something good with. I will remember that next time.

Don't get too upset over it. Doesn't matter what you do or say, some folks are going to be negative anyway.

I think you did a great job with the pictures/description. You did everything you could and when you do your best thats all you can do.

Cheers,

Bill

In my opinion your auction is one of the best I have seen. Excellent work!! And I'm happy for you that your reserve has already been met. Considering that, you may make more money on the car than you anticipated which is always a good thing.

Indeed people around here can be harsh and excessively skeptical/critical. I've read many threads on cars from eBay and people just pretty much spit at them, like all the cars they buy are perfect. And when I read about the skepticism towards your zero feedback highest bidder, I was disgusted because the first item I bid on (and won) on eBay was a 1992 Lexus LS400 which I got for $9,500 -- waay about the max bid on your car. I can understand the skepticism, don't get me wrong, but around here it often gets excessive.

I have to agree with that assessment. The trim, the dent in the body, the broken antenna and the misalignment in the hatch all point to it. It's a minor defect - the car is a real beauty.

Would you please find some of this nasty commentary for me? Maybe I'm missing something, but the "worst" thing I could find is this:

If that's enough to get you so bent out of shape, well, wow, you've made me feel better - I thought I had too thin a skin.

Your car seems to be selling well with 3 days plus to go and now over $4000.

you know how it goes--the serious buyers won't bid until the last minute....

Cheers,

Bill

Yes!!! Another fun one to watch. After having paid top end for both of mine on eBay with only seconds left (go ahead and give me sh_t for waiting) I love watching these. One of our members has one I would love to buy yet my barn project has to come first. When that is done, time to add vehicles . . .

What's the big deal if a zero-feedback bidder wants to bid on a car? We were all a zero-feedback bidder at one time.

BTW, I scored a '81 300TD on ebay for $1700 and it was, and still is, in mint condition. See http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/attachments/diesel-discussion/21161-300td-wagon-seen-sale-dsc00011.jpg .

Ok so to change gears what do you all think the wagon will get up to??

I may have a serious buyer that is ready to pull the trigger now and preempt everyone else. I guess he figures the early bird gets the worm.

I think the concencous is that if they have zero feedback, they have nothing to lose by defaulting on the deal, escpecially an expensive one such as a car. That's why most sellers ask zero feedback to contact them before they bid, so they can make sure they're serious.
