where do you get VO?
The best price I've seen for unused vegetable oil is Golden Chef brand soybean cooking oil at Costco. A 35-lb/4.6gal jug is $13. Works out to $2.83/gal if my math is right.

If you have the space and the up-front capital, it can be cost effective to buy it in tank-car sized loads at a time. Other than that, I doubt you are going to do much better than what you are paying.

I get mine free, used in cubes from a Chinese restaurant and an American restaurant.. Cost of filtering is low (less than $0.05/gallon), and there isn't much time investment once the equipment is set up.

The key is he asked for unused oil. Hard to get that free.
