1 owner 300D

I have found a 300D that I'm in the process of buying and will be looking forward to stepping up to a little more power.

The bad news is I have been unable to convince the wife to give up her VW TDI for a 20 year old car, and may have to sell the 240D. So you guys may be seeing a cream puff 240D for sale in the near future if the 300D is in good shape. The 300 is not in good as shape inside as the 240D, but those things can be fixed in due time with a little dollar investment.

If anyone here might be interested in the 240D feel free to contact me or ask questions here.

Well the new left dash vent for the 240D just arrived by FEDX, will check out the boxes when I get back from 200 mile road trip in the 240D this afternoon.

I have finally talked a friend into taking a road trip with me in my 21 year old car. He has told me every time I ask him if he would like to go with me, that only a fool would drive a 21 YO car out of town. I guess he has maybe come to his sense's.

Well I survived the trip with my friend who seems to be impressed how smooth and relitively quite the old 240D was on the trip. It was beautiful 70* weather and we had the windows down and the sunroof open. He commented that the car had far less wind noise with sunroof open then his new $35k Avolon.

You've been looking for a while for just such a car.

Glad you found one.

Not glad about the 240D but only because I don't have the money to buy it right now.

Cheers,

Bill

You obviously take a great deal of pride in your 240D. Hopefully someone in the forum here would give it a good home.

Kind of like keeping it in the family...

It will be the only place I post it for sale.

I will still work on the wife some, but we only have a 2 car garage, and one car will have to go.

Ahh, now we're getting to the real problem. Wife and cars are fine. You need a bigger garage!

Yup, if we had a 3 car garage the 240D would not be sold.

Speaking of the 240D and garage, I think I'll go tinker on it a little.

I need to make an instrument cluster removal tool, wonder if I can find a proper sized coat hanger?

Thumbs down I hate to be the "poop" but...

... I would definately keep the TDI. The VW is a great performing car that gives you close to 50 MPG, and probably still under warranty(?) If that means 3 car garage, then that's what you'll have to do. Yes, the 300D would be a great improvement over 240D performance wise, but the fuel mileage isn't so s***-hot. If the 240D is real "cherry" as you say, then keep it as your sunny day driver, the 300D becomes your dailey driver, and the TDI keeps both your wife and your bank account happy, at least until the warranty runs out.

Dave- from the land of $4.00 per gallon Diesel Fuel- I love my 300D but even my wife's '98 Cavalier gets much better mileage I'm afraid.
