I wonder what all that writting means. The truck looks like some type of old fire truck or an ambulance.

Reminds me somewhat of my '65 Ford Econoline van we (wife & I) had in the early years. Those were the days.

Registration in US

Isn't there some type of registration requirement?
I am really considering it for work, looking for specs now, if it has a 240 engine, it would be real slow, but maybe doable?

check this out

The higher numbers on the speedo are just there for show, I would imagine. I admit it's deffinately a cool truck. Garanteed to get lots of looks.

dog pile

I did a search on dogpile.com, and the dealer came up and said it was offered at $13,000.00, little rich for me, I truly would do it for a work truck, think it would be cool, unique, and engine easy to work on! Says he just put a new crate engine in it, but does not show pics .

If I had the money, I'd cram a turbo 617 in it, keep the manny tranny, and paint it petrol green. That would look pretty good.

Yes, this truck is an old fire truck.

Feuerwehr= fire department.
Notruf 112= emergency call 112> Like 911 here

Louis.

PS: A few years ago the major US car manufacturers
haralded the extended cab multi door pick ups like
a new innovation.
As all can see, MB already had one in 1976.

There is so little difference in acceleration times and top speed with auto & 4 speed as to be not worth anything except at the track, only real difference is fuel eccomony. The same holds true in the VW TDI's diesels, only real difference in auto & 5spd is fuel eccomonoy.

As for a registration it will require being US certification and I would imagine that's not cheap or easy. If that's been done that would be only way to buy.

the ebay ad says 240d motor. his website says 220d motor.

i like the, well what is it, a travel trailer or a funeral hearse trailer? looks like it was made from a 40 ford or european variant.

I believe that the EPA and DOT rules both exempt vehicles older than 25 years from meeting US certification standards. I know of plenty of old English vehicles that have been imported and titled with no difficulty, providing they are 25 years or older.

Older than 25 years, DOT doesn't care. Older than 21 years, EPA doesn't care. Then again, it may be more difficult to register in that we never got this vehicle, and it was never imported for use in the United States.

Getting a vehicle here is one thing, registering it for the road is another. All those Minis and Land Rovers were variants on a vehicle sold and/or legally imported to the US, even if the engine wasn't (like a diesel Land Cruiser).
