1981 300td for sale in Mass.

Came across this car but it's just too far for me to go. The guy lives 45 min. North of Sturbridge.

Details--car has around 200k, white with blue int., inside looks nice, new tires and brakes, recent glow plugs, has rust around drivers side rear fender--spot about as big as a dinner plate on tailgate--and a small spot on rear fender passenger side, phone 978-724-6662, price $750!, email at roy@wachusett.com--talked to the guy on the phone and he says it runs/drives great, tranny fine.

Hope someone here on the forum can use this car. I'd love to grab it myself but maybe one of you guys lives close enough to go get it.

Let me know if someone here does get it. You guys have helped me a lot now it's my turn to return the favor.

Cheers,

Bill

Being in the antiques business, I know where Sturbridge is and mentioned it to the seller. He said 45 minutes north/east of sturbridge and thats all I know.

And yes, I think its a really good deal and would grab it but, like I said, its too far for me to travel right now.

I asked the seller if he would hesitate driving it a long distance and he said 'Nope".

Someone better grab it soon, 'cause it is a good deal and somebody is gonna get it. The seller will send pics too!

Cheers,

Bill

The seller owns a ski resort and the pics I got look like you're right--boonies for sure.

BTW- I do not know him and have no reason to help him sell the car. Just thought a fellow forum brutha might want it.

Cheers,

Bill

Exclamation

This time of year, when I see an older diesel for sale with new glow plugs, it usually is having starting problems.
Worn engine is usually the problem.

The glow plugs were replaced 6 months ago. I think I said "recent" and not "new".

Even so, worn engine is not always the culprit. More often it's the injectors.

Besides, I asked him about oil consumption and fluid leaks and he said not even a quart between 3000 mile oil changes and no fluid leaks. That doesn't sound like a shot motor to me.

Also asked him if he would hesitate to drive a long distance and he said no.

If he was asking $2000 for it, maybe he would lie about it, but for $750 I doubt it. He's not hurting for money. He's just wanting to re-coup the bucks he just spent for the brakes/ tires.

Lets say the motor is shot---is it not worth $750 for the nice interior and other parts?

Maybe you've been looking at to many ebay cars?

Cheers,

Bill

I think Norm Abrams of the " Yankee Workshop" on PBS mentions Sturbridge pretty often....

The only reason I mentioned it is beacuse I am an antique dealer and there is a huge show there. My wife and I were interviewed there by Joan London of "Good Morning America" back when David Hartman was the anchor.

Bill

No, some friends from out of town dropped in adn I would have had to drive on the mass pike or rte. 2 on Sunday evening....I decided against that....I need to clear my garage first of an existing project but I was lured by the prospect of that car....

I wonder if the car has been sold. I thought for sure someone here on the forum might like it. Seemed like a great deal to me.

Rob, I wouldn't give up. You seem to be the only one who lives near enough to go look at it and it looked like too good a car to pass on. Hope you can find time this week to check it out.

Cheers,

Bill
