What kind of solvent/glue to repair Behr radiator (85 300D)
which is plastic.
The overflow nipple on the top passenger side running to the expansion reservoir is cracked and sheared off. I know from the past you can putty the area to death and stick a 3/16" vacuum fitting in the glob and it will work as an overflow nipple, but in trying to be professional, i would like to try PVC solvent and drill a 11/32" hole and slip a slightly sanded < 3/8" plastic fitting in their as an overflow nipple. I did this 1/2 hours ago.. I dont think the PVC is holding...any ideas, if not I will putty the area and do it the ugly way...Any Ideas? |
If nothing works there is a radiator on ebay for 30 bucks. The seller says it came out of a 1983 so it would probably fit yours. The auction ends in 9 hours

You may want to slurge and buy a new one....... its only a matter of time till the neck breaks off and you just know thats going to happen 20 miles from nowhere.

if it is a snap on fitting, I think you can buy them cheap from dealer or Phil.

Mine worked fine and looked good for the time frame I needed, until radiator replacement. |
Don't use PVC. It's not designed for the heat or the pressure.
