Question W140 3.2L ENGINE from a 500S in to a W140 300SD????

I was wondering if a 1992 Mercedes Benz 300 SD -Turbo Diesel- can take with out any modifications a COMPLETE 3.2L ENGINE removed from a 1993 MERCEDES BENZ 500 S-CLASS, same Chassis W140?

In other words a 3.2L ENGINE from a 1993 MERCEDES BENZ 500 S-CLASS, would bolt on in to a 300 SD year 1992 same Chassis-W140-?

Is the w140 SD tranny Compatible with the W140 500S motor??

Thanks for any info you can offer!

Ricardo

Complete drivetrain would have to be swapped, engine, transmission, and rear end. Even then do not know if it would work, also fuel delivery system would need to be replaced. If I recall correctly, v8s have two fuel pumps?

Not sure what you have to start with or what you're trying to accomplish. A 93 W140 with a 3.2l M104 is a 300SE, not an S500 or 500S. An S500 or 500SE or 500SEL should have a 5.0l M119 V8.

I'm 99.9% sure that W140 M104 will not bolt up to a W140 300SD transmission.

The swap will likely cost more than a W140 300SE which can be found for under US$10,000 these days, and you'll have a car that won't be worth as much as a 300SE that left Sindelfingen as a 300SE.

No matter what motor you are talking about the electronic problems will dwarf the mechanical.
