79300SD to 81300SD engine swap

I'm putting a 79 engine out of a w116 into a 81 w126 chassis. Is all the transmission linkage swappable, or is there something on the injector pump that would force me to have to change it?

Richard

I believe everything is swappable, hope I'm right on this. It makes sense to me to pull the engine/trans as a unit from the 126, put the "new" engine alongside to see what needs to be moved. One thing to check is the 3x2 bolt pattern on the flex plate. Make sure it lines up with the torque converter from the 126, or you'll need to swap flex plates. Also, make sure the motor mount brackets are fungible as well.
