Black spots on the driveway..Leading causes of those spots? (85 300D)
On my 85 300D, I thought I had sealed every spot that could be causing a black spot on my driveway. I had done quite a bit of inspection and research and I thought that by using Lockwashers to mount the IP, I really sealed that joint, which is a big leak contributor...In mind I have id'd these places..anyone know others where I can look? These black spots drive me crazy!!Also they make it look like I am driving some kind of jalopy. If these keep up I am going to try to make my own engine compartment under pan,
a. IP/Engine junction--use lock washers on IP mounting nuts b. Oil Filter Housing tower--use a good gasket and sealent when remounting c. The 17mm nut at the back of the oil filter housing d. Of course, the lower pan e. Front Crankshaft seal Any place else? |

Valve cover gasket leaking down the engine......gasket on the Vacume pump to block.
Steam clean the engine well so you can spot fresh leaks....

I have heard, never tried it, to put talcum powder on an area to see if the oil is running. You need a little inspection mirror on a stick if you do not have one.
