Lost tach

I have a 86 300 SDL that had a battery go. Had to jump it twice, once to get home and once to get to the shop. The tach quit and one gentleman says there is a protection fuse on some cars, but did not know if this were one. The fuse holder cover mentions the tach fuse, but it covers a number of things and was not bad. Any ideas of where else to look?? I can't even figure out where the take off for the tach is located.

Probably the OVP. Jump-starters tend to cause voltage spikes and that would cause the OVP to blow its fuse. Where the OVP lives in an S-class I do not know, sorry, but that would be my first suspicion. Anything else not work? OVP usually protects several pieces of electronic circuitry -- EGR and thus tach, the electronic diesel system, ABS.
