I used to think I knew everything about the vehicles I drove and everyone elses. But this story made me reconsider - in fact it sort of changed my whole outlook...

I bought a brand new 1976 Chevy PU and at my order the dealer installed a pair of those long flapping mud flaps behind the back wheels. Well, not too long after, I noticed this vibration and was concerned and since the thing was under warranty anyway took it in to have them look at the rear end/drive train etc. After quite a few visits and a lot of trouble, they replaced the drive shaft and u-joints and there was still a vibration. A few days later I was talking to a friend while we were leaning on the truck in my yard, and I was explaining the situation - just as plain as anything he said "It's probably those mudflaps". Duh!!! Didn't I feel like a dumba**. I mean, I knew right away that he was right. Of course the dealer could have told me that too, if they'd figured it out, but they didn't. And they really did the change out of the drive shaft and all, because I saw them do it. Go figure. I know something about cars, but I offer little advice at the water cooler nowadays, and frankly I wouldn't know an O2 sensor from an EGR doohicky without the manual in front of me...

If you'd ever pushed a trailer you would become an instant fan. The maneuverability is amazing. Having the steering wheels at the hitch makes a big difference.
