Power steering rebuild?

Just got a power steering pump in a junkyard. Looked nice and dry, so would you guys rebuild or just put it in and go - see what happens?

Also, using the proper fluid, do you just put it in and then bleed by turning the wheel and fill until the fluid stops dropping? I couldn't find a lot of answers in the posts. Thanks all.

I would change the filter then put it in and see what happens. If the shaft seal leaks you can get a replacement and if the pump doesnt pump you can get a rebuild kit. It will proly work fine

I put a yard pump in mine 2 months ago. It looked good so I just put it in, cleaned it out really well then installed it and flushed a bottle of p/s fluid through it. Works great. I was going to rebuild my original pump if the yard pump started leaking. not an issue now. Go ahead and try it the most you will be out is some p/s fluid. Make sure you use p/s fluid not a/t fluid. a/t fluid is what started my original leaking. Good luck
