I found a rats nest and a little surface rust, nothing major on the car. My tray is a little rusty but I don't care about that I can bolt a new one on. You might want to get a new bracket and nuts to their probably not in great shape.


Actually I have a new spare bushing you can have for $5+ shipping. I bought two and didn't realize how much work the drivers side is. :D The drivers side one is in great shape and will stay in their as long as possible.

An update on my sticky lifters.

The car was in the shop for awhile as I wan't in any hurry and neither is my mechanic.

I got it back yesterday and it purrs like a kitten.

He added 4 quarts of tranny fluid to the engine oil and let the car idle for several hours. Emptied and did it again, filled with new oil and replaced filter.

Like I said, purrs like a diesel kitten. :)

I think that I'm going to try that with Marvel Mystery Oil. But, I'll probably drive it for 500 miles or so to work it through the engine thoroughly. Then change it. I'm not sure that 4 quarts are necessary, however.

Perhaps, I'm just repeating what the mechanic told me.

He told me he added 4 qts to the existing oil, whihc seemed like a lot.

He also said that he never let the rpm's go above idle, becasue of the excess capacity.

I just know it's real quiet now. :)

I will probably replace my lifters over spring break. 10k miles on Modil 1 and they are still ticking away, their better but still tick.
