Hi, newby with a question.
Hi.
I have joined your great forum to ask for help that I couldn't find with a search. I am trying to replace the glow plug sytem in my old Land Rover with an after-start system. After searching and cross referencing I found that several Mercedes diesels share the same glow plugs as my engine. I then purchased the quick start kit (plugs and timer relay) for Mercedes diesels from 82-90 only to find that it is a direct swap for the Mercedes glow plug wiring harness. My question is, do any of you have or know where I could find a detailed diagram of the glow plug wiring harness including all fuses, warning lights, etc. Also is there anything other than the wire connectors I might require to convert my system over to the Mercedes or is it a pretty standard set up. Thanks in advance for any help. Mike Last edited by whistler110; 12-11-2004 at 02:42 AM. |

I hope you can find what you need with this great on-line manual: http://skinnerbox.steaky.org/Service/Library.html I am certain that others here have good resourses as well....

Thanks.
I've gone over the info in this library, impressive collection of info, and I guess what I'm looking for is something like a Haynes manual electrical diagram to show the relation of the glow plug system with other systems (what fuses it feeds off, where on the starter it connects to etc.). It looks like the model I'm looking for is the year 08/80- 123.1 with 615,616,617.91 engines with the quick start relay. I'm ussuming these engines are 4cyl. diesel. I'm also wondering how the ignition switch works on these models. It looks like the relay is powered by just turning to the ON position and then stays powered in the starter position. My ignition switch has a spring loaded position between the ON and starter position that powers the GP's. Thanks again for the help. |
