124 300D alloys vs 124 300E alloys.....
The original alloy wheels on my 87 300D are not the same alloy wheels on an 87 300E, or are they?
They look the same! I've noticed the alloy wheels on the 124 gassers to be spaced a few inches more apart than the 124 diesels! The lug bolts are quite a bit longer too, in order to compensate for the extended hub of the alloy wheel. Why so? BB |

So far as I can tell, all the factory wheels on the W124 and W126 chassis cars are identical.
The W123 wheels are completely different and cannot be interchanged, but will fit any Benz after 1965 or so (W111,W113, W108/9, W114/5, W109). Peter

There is enough of an offset difference between the W124 and the W126 wheels (the 15-hole style) to make them undesireable or unusable as a swap.
W126 tends to be 21.5 mm offset and W124 tends to be 39 mm offset. Probably some variations in there depending on any wheel width variations and changes among model years. There is also a difference between the 15-"round hole" style you will find on the 1986-87 cars and the 15-hole "square hole" style you see on the 1992 era cars. Then you throw in what could be wheels off a 190d/e and it gets more confusing. Listen to an old man, sonny - make sure you know what size and offset wheels you need, and make sure you ask for this information on any wheels you are about to buy. Ken300D
