which mityvac? wife needs Xmas list
Sears has two mityvacs - the $35 model without a case and is disposable or the repairable $70 model. Which one do I tell my wife to get me for Christmas. Also sears has combination wrenches with reversable wratchet box end for changing those glow plugs. Is this the trick to getting those plugs in and out? Let me know.

Just bought the $70 one from Sears last week. Think its called the Silverline model. Came with many attchments and hoses, and storage case. Higly recomend it.
Merry Christmas Andy

as for the plugs, you should be able to use a regular open end wrench.

Somebody just posted about those ratcheting wrenches last week. They said they loved them for doing the glow plugs. Certainly, you can do it with open ends, but if these make the job easier, then why not? I'm with leathermang - any excuse to expand the tool collection.

IMHO the Silverline model is the one to buy. It can be rebuilt if needed and you're going to have it a long time. Don't scrimp on tools that aren't expendable.

Is that the plastic or metal body? If plastic, then it is exactly like the kit I bought at AutoZone for $26, minus the case. $27 is awfully expensive for that plasic carrying case.

I agree. 28$ at Advance auto parts and it is repairable. The body is plastic but this is not a heavy duty tool like a wrench etc. I am sure everyone has a small spare tool box, tackle box to keep it in. I found mine at the dump. Don't waste the money on the metal version unless you will press it into service as a hammer upon occasion........

remember now, if you want the DUAL CONVERTER (test vacuum+pressure)pump you will need the SILVERLINE DELUXE. I have the Silverline non-deluxe which has this pressure thingy on the top, apparently you have to buy a separate pressure guage to do pressure tests with it, but the deluxe already has it covered.

Mighty:
The Silver is the metal one. Not just the case! And Harbour Freight has them online.

Sorry, my bad for not reading the text. The Harbor Freight link above is to the metal one.

Well, I bought the plastic one from Sears for $30 and it looks real breakable.
When it does, I'm going metal, with case.
