Doesn't this sale price seem high?

Have a look at this 87 300D. Nine grand and sold to another dealer? I looks pretty good to me, but really $9k?

Lots of quotables in the seller's description, but

is my favorite. Although MB-Tex is many things, I think soft isn't one of them.

Makes me feel a bit better about my Ebay 300d

My 300D

Mine didn't quite look as good as was described, and I should have brought cash to bargain with. I've already dumped some more $$ just to fix stuff that should have been caught at the state inspection, no parking brake, broken headlamps and bulbs etc The paint is rough, and there are a few dents and lot's of scratches, not exactly "like new".

I'm thinking about leaving neg feedback once I get the title in my hands. Service and parts are not being delivered as promised. I'm thinking of sending the seller a bill for the stuff I've purchased myself because I'm tired of waiting for him to deliver, and don't want the inconvience of leaving it at his hack shop that missed so many things in the first place.

Not to hijack this thread....I love the car anyways.

Hopefully, this one is as described, for the price it went for. I wonder what the buy it now price was.

There is a '92 300D with about 160K on it at a local dealer with a $9,000ish asking price!

Nice looking, but no picture under the hood!

I think it is a tad high! If the odometer read 80K, I might bite, but near 150K, na!

Realistically, maybe $6500?????

I don't want to rub salt in the wound, but you could have got this car for $5500 if I remember correctly, $200 in savings!!! (hey, it could help towards those repairs.) That was his buy it now when I talked to him.

I still think it's a nice looking car and if I was looking in that bracket, I probably would have bought it.

Thanks for the encouragement! I really like the car. The grass is always greener right? I'm glad to hear that I didn't pay much more than the reserve. I'm more upset with the less than 100% honest description, as I feel I paid top dollar and thought I was getting a bit more.

Enough about me, the buyer has sold a bunch of cars on Ebay. I wonder why he's buying the MB for such a high price? Seems odd. I wonder if he contacted the seller and agreed upon a price before the end of the auction.

Sometimes I wonder if these car dealers do tricks/play games to improve thier feedback...not that it's what this was, but I've seen some funny stuff on some of the scam auctions by looking at the feedback.

I may be a skeptic but...

whenever I see an Mb on eBay that is selling for way too much and the reserve is met, I always think that the seller may have his wife or someone he knows bid on the item just to drive the price up. He figures he has nothing to lose. Maybe some chump will want to bid on it and will get into the auction frenzy and get in a bidding war with his wife or friend.

I don't see how this guy expects anyone to pay $18 grand to "buy it now" EVEN if it is a coupe.

I am a skeptic. This car was bought by another 'dealer' for quite a bit over book (such as it is) value. What dealer would do that? Yet another reason to keep an eye on ebay auctions. I bought mine there and am generally happy, but I really think I got lucky. And the car wasn't too far away so I didn't feel pressure to buy it once I got there. I think a lot of people are getting hosed on ebay these days and they probably don't even know it.

it WILL probably reappear

Yep, it was another NJ dealer at that, it was definitely a "DEAL" between two dealers, but ebay wont do much about shill bidding unless its so blatant ANYONE could tell.
