I understand...

The old IRS savings account!

Thanks for keeping us posted on your EGT & ET escapades. I can't wait to see what happens in the chapter where you install the Probe intercooler. There's nothing like a good forum adventure story!

lol..speaking of which, I found a BBQ propane tank that can be mounted in the trunk
I'm going to try 1-2 PSI...I have an "air an inert gas" solenoid valve but I dont trust it....I'll probably end up buying a NOS (not nawz) brand nitrous solenoid.
I also have a hobbs switch...just need to get the motovation to install it....www.waytekwire.com has some very nice lighted switches that I'm going to install between the EGT and boost gauge in the old ashtray. (To activate LPG circuit) should be intresting when its together...what I need to do is get some 0-60 times for you guys as a solid basis as to what im doing...i guess it all comes with time!

Ummm... you guys *do* know that a "maxed ALDA" only turns up fuel delivery in the lower RPM's and lower boost levels, right? The ALDA is still limited by the internal full-load adjustment, unless you haven't yet reached that point (which isn't likely). Correct ALDA setting should be done off-idle, not at WOT. The WOT setting is done internally. Want to see what the full load setting really is? Remove the ALDA entirely, that will give max fuel delivery all the time (although still controlled by rack position, RPM, etc)... not sure how driveable the car would be off-boost though, should smoke like the dickens until boost builds. Anyone connected a pressure gauge to see what the backpressure is both in the exhaust manifold, as well as the exhaust system?

I still wonder though when people mention they maxed out the ALDA, like that's supposed to be "better" somehow. Maybe the high-mileage 617 pumps are lean enough to tolerate this, but any 603 that I've played with would belch smoke badly with it 'maxed out'. Turn up the ALDA past the point where you feel off-idle power gain and all you're doing is wasting fuel, IMO.

Yeah...I think most of our 617 ALDA's are worn out (out of adjustment) that maxing them out is still not quite all the adjustment that is needed. I have minimal-no smoke throught the whole power band. As I gradually adjusted the ALDA (1/2-1turn at a time) up I kept feeling better "get up and go" results without any additional smoke through the range.

Also my car has 272k miles so that may have something to do with the ALDA need a full maxed out setting?

I dunno, most of us don't just max it out for sake of making more power...it just so happens it was the last setting that worked well...

Also I have not noticed any fuel mileage decrease. If anything it has got a little better.

Let me throw my hat in on this one too, for all of us that hear "why dont you trade in all those diesels and get a nice fast new car" thats why I want to light a fire under the collective ass of my diesels. Believe me, I never hear the end of it, I work at a dealer... 0-60 on my coupe right now is 14.61s, I know I can do better.

14.6 is slow. I have a 1983 300sd and everything is stock. 208,000 miles turbo boost and alda adjusted by local MB shop. 0-60 is 11 to 12 seconds.

All right! I call B.S. You need to check your watch or your speedo. There is no way a stock SD is doing 11 to 12 sec 0 to 60s

lol, i used to have a rebuilt 81 300SD that was fast as hell, did circles around 123's. i dunno if it was an 11s benz but it was damn quick.

checked boost pressure on the 603 tonight, its been dragging butt lately, and that confirmed it- 7lbs at the most...ugh. another one to adjust. found a leak at the exhaust mainfold and cleaned out a bunch of carbon from the vacuum lines and pressure switch in the intake. its getting the intake cleaned out soon.
