Yes and no. When I originally did the "no separator" mod I had the head off the car due to a very slight but persistant head gasket leak. I made the mistake of having the head rebuilt while I had it apart. The local guy who did the valve guides screwed them up. Before the head was off the car used 1qt of oil every 3K or so. The "new" head went on and I drove the car to Florida and it burned 1qt of oil every 500-700miles all the way there and back and ever since then.
I thought it was the separator so I tried hooking it all back up. Then I tried a custom made separator fabricated from a Moroso catch can with welded in ports, etc. Still burning oil. I have narrowed it down to the valve guide tolerances being set too loose. I have a "new" head from Metric Motors sitting on the workbench as I type this, just waiting to go. The custom oil separator is still on the engine. It cost me a bit to have it made so I am leaving it on! Looking forward to making the car "right" with the new head. RT

Oil drain picture
Quote:
I spent several hours removing metal tube and replacing seal only to have it continue to leak over sump. Can you please send this photo to my e-mail. I'd like to see what you've engineered! Thanks, Tom

If that picture is actually still available anywhere, I'd be interested in seeing this as well.
But as it was origionally posted back in 2004, I'm not holding my breath!
