Question Leaking Monovalve? 85 300D

I tried pulling out the monovalve insert tuesday to see if it had that hole in the gasket. I found that the hole was there so I just put it back in and was going to just order the repair kit.
Was fine when the first day but now it leaks but only when the heater is off or when you turn the car off. It doesn't seem to be coming from the top where the screws are or the hose connections but just under the big cylinder top of the monovalve itself. Could this be from putting back in the old one with the hole in a different place or do I need a whole new monovalve? If so can I just plug both hoses until I save up for it or find a nice used one since I don't need heat?
