peanut oil....peanut allergy

on the greasecar.com forum batteryboy posted a thought about this. does the burning of peanut oil affect folks with the peanut allergy.

does anyone with access to emission testing equipment know if there is any peanut in the exhaust after if has been burned? i am sure that any remaining peanut in the exhaust may be in the parts per million category but depending on sensitivity to peanuts it could close a throat.

Oh great, another "excuse" to legislate WVO off the streets. All because poor Timmy Nobody in Anywhereville, U.S. MAY have an allergic reaction. All I have to say to Timmy is: Hey you! Get away from my exhaust pipe! You can't get high inhaling that! RT

I would say it's questionable, but there could be some intact peanut protein that survives combustion.

I think there is little doubt some of the protein responsible could make it out the exhaust. The question comes down to: how much of that protein is present in the oil to begin with, how much of that protein survives prolonged exposure to the cooking temperatures, how much of that protein is present in the waste oil after filtration, how much of that protein does indeed survive the combustion process, and finally how much of that protein does it take to make somebody have a reaction? I know it doesn't take too much exposure to make somebody sick, but I can't imagine the final concentration in the exhaust is over ppt levels. So you figure the odds of first encountering someone with this allergy, them sticking their face close enough to your exhaust to get any kind of dose at all, then the odds of you also happening to be burning peanut oil at the time, it becomes almost a mute point. With these kinds of odds stacked in their favor, if someone dies from sniffing your exhaust they would have to be the absolute unluckiest person to walk the face of the earth.

I think that anything to do with peanuts should be banned from Wisconsin.
keep the peanut brittle in Georgia where it belongs.

Here's another one:

What would happen if every person in China was to jump up and down at the same time?
Would it knock the earth out of it's orbit?
What would be the rammifications of that happening?

If your exhaust smells like peanuts there may be enough to hurt some people...
For people really allergic to something... it is not the amount which counts... any amount that starts their reaction can be a problem...
Of course this could probably be resolved with accuracy and speed with a Google search..... but that would be pretty boring....

I was using a peanut oil diesel mix prior to the weather changing. It does not smell like peanuts - it sort of smells like frying chicken in motor oil

From the peanut allergy website
Pure peanut oil is generally non-allergenic, but cold pressed peanut oil or oil contaminated with peanut protein through cooking may be dangerous.

Don't know how that may relate to inhalation

my wife is alergic to mushrooms. won't kiss me after panera bread forest mushroom soup. once she returned a burger because it was served with 'shrooms. it came back and 10 min later she was scratching. they had simpley wiped the 'shrooms off the burger. the juice was still there!

people don't get the food allergy thing. one kind hearted person made a dish with 'shrooms and said...'i left the 'shrooms big enough for you to pick out"!! its the cooking and the juice that does the deed. otoh there was a place outside detroit called the mongolian wok or something and they had colored plates for beef, chicken, vegan, and food allergies. they hard scrubbed the grill before cooking her food. they get it!!

Why would anyone want to run expensive peanut oil and not other cheaper oils that are as good?

If you die from cancer, when you are in (XXXXXXX) no one cares- you are one of millions. Trainwrecks- one of thousands. 99.99% of oddball ways- usually at least several- inhaling peanut oil diesel exhaust is the way I'd like to go- I'll get a medal for sure, and a grand parade. Same as the fisherman that was fast asleep leaned on the back two legs of a chair right behind the small wheelhouse of his fishing boat on the way home for a long days fishing. A flying fish jumps and fly out of the way of the moving boat- and circles around gaining alttitude until is now a full 360- that fish aims and recalculates. Aims and recalculates until he lands right in the open mouth of the snoring fisherman. That fish continues just enough to go a bit down the throat. The man jumps up and runs into the wheelhouse but his mates can't pull the fish out- the wings and scales stop that- and they can't push it down so the man can swallow it either. The man dies and joins the peanut oil diesel fumes sniffer as the a way to die that no one else has ever died from. Two very happy men afterall, indeed.

Update:

I called the Prime Minister of China, Mr. Wen JiaBao.

He absolutely refused to participate in my little experiment.
Actually I got the impression that he couldn't even if he wanted to. Since the cultural revolution over there it's almost impossible to get those Chinamen to do anything!

Oh well, guess we'll never know.

Danny
