I think I froze my 240
I was thinking I should flush the coolant in the 240 and so it was warm through the day yesterday so I did it. I took the thermostat out and cycled the coolant through the block without the thermostat.
When I went to fill it I put the thermostat back before I added the coolant so there was water in the block. I put pure antifreeze in the radiator and ran it till it drew down the coolant into the engine. Then I added the premix 50/50. I put almost a gallon of pure antifreeze in and then the premix. The temps were well below freezing last night. I drove it this morning and and all the coolant leaked out from the front of the engine. I couldn't see any broken hoses. Is there any scenario that one could imagine where this is less than catastrophic. I really like this car but if the engine block is cracked I am up the creek. I tried to start the 300D but it wouldn't start. I am really feeling down now.

Sounds more like you just didn't get it sealed where the gooseneck connects to the block or a loose hose. A gallon of straight antifreeze should have been more then enough to mix with the water in the cooling jacket.

Not likley.
I would suspect, loose hose, bad thermostat seal, freeze plug failure, etc.

check the radiator drain plug
with a little bit of luck, you drained the old antifreeze via the drain plug at the radiator. PERHAPS this has NOT been tightened enough.......
GOOD LUCK. spo out |

Thanks for the
help and have a Merry Christmas. I hope all your experiences are warm and sober this season.
I have an appointment with the Indy to look at it Wednesday. Hope you all are right. Some jobs could wait till Spring. Flush will be on my spring list from now on. I don't have time to mess with it what with the holidays. Going back to Mesa. Anyone out there give me a shout and we'll get together. My grey one was very hard to start so I put it in the garage with heat and got on the road anyway. Cheers...........

Update
Gentlemen the little Yellow car lives. It was only a water pump and the independent mech only charged me $75.00 parts. Great news.
