I agree! Without having been a member of this forum, I would have never had the confidence to work on my car like I do, and save the amounts of money that I have. The people and information on this forum are incredible, and extremely appreciated! I visit every single day.....muiltiple times

Add my "amens" and Season's Greetings! This forum has been tremendouslly helpful with my "new" adventure owning a Mercedes Diesel. I joined MBCanada Forum also, but unfortunately, there's virtually nothing there in terms of real help. Most threads just sit there with a couple of replies for days and weeks- and this morning, this kind of crap was sitting at the top of the list. Someone wrote-
"So again you can see how the paranoid fools at Mercedes-Benz treat this website. Do you know what they've done now? The have started banning IP addresses from MBCanada.com. They banned my IP so I am no longer able to get on the media sites, the main Mercedes-Benz.com site or even the DaimlerChrysler site. I can visit the Canadian MB sites but all other ones won't work. These guys are the biggest bunch of paranoid fools I've ever come across". Seems that Mercedes organization here in Canada doesn't like freedom of speech surrounding their products! Probably dead set against having owners truly understanding their cars, potentially doing their own maintenance, repairs, etc. Maybe this explains why the MBCanada Forum doesn't have anything really helpful on it- people who divulge helpful information are getting punished for doing so! I'm thankful for mercedesshop.com which allows people to ask any question, and provide hundreds and thousands of useful answers! Dave 1976 White 300D W115 "Pearl" |

From reading further, it seems that what's happening is that guys and gals on this particular Canadian Forum are posting some "insider" info about new models, and then being "punished" by Daimler-Chrysler-Canada by having their IP addresses blocked from accessing official MB Sites. In order to do so, the corporation must be actually monitoring their postings on this independant forum. I can only assume these people being watched may be Daimler-Chrysler employees. Anyway, another reply on the thread seemed to suggest that certain "insider" technical help is being punished in the same way. So I applaud the freedom you seem to have here at mercedesshop in comparison with this rather bizarre and punitive attitude towards participants on a similar Forum here in Canada. Dave |

I give a hearty thumbs up to all the good folks helping us novices in the MB world. And more than just the help that is offered, the folks here seem to be really good people. The intelligence and courtesy of members is remarkable.
I have looked at a couple of forums supporting the other vehicles I own, specifically Dodge Dakota and Chevy Truck and find a lot of the discourse to be related to speed and modifications and sound systems. All good things of course, but with the majority of people interested in that stuff averaging age 18, it seems we just don't have that much in common. Kudos to the younger forum members here who have a sense of lasting style and the good sense to drive an economical and well-engineered and safe automobile. And who are not taken in by the glitz and flash of some of the fad cars of the day. Merry Christmas DS 87 300D Northern Iowa |
