Is there any way to save some of these threads on this great site?

I just wonder, as my internet went out again, is there a way to save some of this to the harddrive?
I don't mean line by line, I mean an easy way to save entire threads....
There are reams of info here, and if you have spotty internet access like I do, it is only available sometimes.
Any thoughts?

Perhaps print it to PDF or just "Save As".

I'd lean towards the save to PDF. If you run Windows, PDF Factory by Fineprint software is a nice little print to PDF program.

Another way is to copy/paste the parts you want into a word file.

Those are good recommendations for getting small amounts; though I wonder if there is a easy, less tedious way to get volumes.....

Yes

Bring up the page want you want and under "file" click on "save as".
Under "save as type" select "Web archive, single file (*mht)"
Then save the "folder"
When you click on the icon in your documents, it will bring up the whole page as you saw it on the internet.

If you have or have access to a UNIX or Linux machine, you can do a wget, and specify how many 'levels in' you want to get... it can take a while, though.

There are also applications used to download entire sites for off-line reading. I'll google and see if I can find the one I have on the laptop at home. They work quite well and are a little more user-friendly than wget.

...ok, here's a billion of them. What I used was Offline Commander; at the time, thewre was a free trial version that would nab up to a certain number of MBs before requiring you to register. They probably still offer a demo version. If you get that, and then install Google Desktop, you'll also be able to search the downloaded files instantly.

Dave, that's absolutely fantastic! Thanks for the advice. Learn something new about these boxes every day.
