Earliest diesel MB with cruise control?

I assume it would be the 123s but if anyone has cruise on a 115 or earlier, I would love to hear about it.

My 76 has cruise control, albeit inoperative at this minute. Plans are underway for its resurrection in the distant future. . .

My '76 300D with 142,000 miles has cruise. Fully functional unless I lock the doors while driving.

The earliest (and only W115) Mercedes diesel to have cruise control was the 1975-1976 300D.

I have seen a few 115's with cruise but only 300's.
I do not have cruise in any of mine, 72-220d, 74-240d and two 76-240d's but I will be looking for a way to retro fit a system, any suggestions anybody?

I just installed an aftermarket Rostra "Globalcruise" unit in my 84 300D. Works quite well. The control stalk is obviously non-MB looking but fairly unobtrusive. The unit is a "one box" install, simple wiring and a driveshaft magnet setup for speed sensing. All electronic, no vacuum servo controlled. Its a little slow to respond when you set it and on very gentle downgrades it can "hunt" or surge gently but this only happens in very specific situations. There is a gain control I have yet to mess with but it may alleviate this issue. Once the speed is set it locks it in, no variation at all. Cheaper than a rebuilt cruise amp from GDL that may or may not have solved my inop CC. Should be able to install in any car. RT
