Will the 300 Turbo fit in a 110/111 Heckflosse?

Would there be enough room to upgrade to a 300 Turbo in a fintail without too many modifications? I am looking at a possible project that I always wanted to complete. I don't mind fabricating engine/tranny mounts, but don't want to get into cutting firewalls, radiator supports, etc. Any suggestions?

I don't know about a 617, but I've heard the 616 240D engine fits well plus that would even be a decent power increase considering what's in there from the factory. In fact, I don't think a 617 would just drop in, sorry, Hopefully someone will tell me I'm wrong because I'd love/kill to see such a machine.
Thanks
David

the w110/111's had the 230 & 250 straight six gas engines which fit the w114/115's which fit the 617 na. the only problem putting a 617 turbo in the w114 was a steering box/ oil filter conflict.

i have heard that the bottom end of the 230/280 sohc is almost identical to the m110 280, which has the same general dimensions as the 617 turbo

aren't the fintails pretty much the same car as the w108 aside from styling? the w108 will hold anything.

i think all the engine mount setups for the sedans and big coupes from 1952 to 1985 were pretty much the same.
