Auxillary vacuum pump?

Is there such a thing? I was wondering. I don't need it for my MB but for my VW diesel('81). I am doing a little tinkering and needed a bit more vacuum than the stock pump will produce. Any ideas?

Kevin

maybe your pump needs a rebuild? the kit is cheap i think. i know my 91 jetta on a hot summer day here will not keep the AC vent right cause the vacuum goes down in the heat.
my Toy has a pump built on the back of the alternator but don't know if you could put it on a VW.
hope that helps a little.

Pump rebuild.

My VW has the "blade" style pump instead of the diaphram style. I haven't been able to locate a rebuild kit for it. I was hoping that there was some way to get an aux. pump but I have had no such luck. I'll keep trying. Thanks for the help.

In the world of BIG gas powered V-8's with big camshafts they sometimes don't get the needed vacuum from the engine to run power brakes etc. Therefore, 12 volt stand alone vacuum pumps are available to supply the need. Without looking , I think Master Power Brakes is one supplier. Just look through some of the Rod mag's/search the net, etc., you'll find 'em.

4.1 Cadillac's and a few of the 4.5 (DeVilles, etc.) from the eighties and early nineties had electric vacuum pumps as the motor's couldn't supply the needed vacuum.
