But you see, they will say that you have not met everyone so you need to meet everyone before you can assume. What this means is that if you buy a car from a dealership and get treated badly 9 times out of 10, you have to assume that the next time will be better. So you have to keep patronizing that dealership because if you boycott them, you might be throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

So heres the verdict...

I get stopped FINALLY for something I thought I fixed a few days before, licence plate lights. Turns out they stopped working again.

Officer Powell (the K9 cop) decides this is reason enough to CITE ME a 153 dollar ticket on the spot after harassing me about the evening..I think I talk of this elsewhere eariler in the thread...

To the present. Today was my court date. I take in the reciept my dad made up that showed the repairs and the labor (legitimate as he is a mechanic but I did the work myself). The judge points out with glee my two accidents (one a newb mistake on the freeway and one when I rolled my bug). He seemed to find it nice that I was never citied for either of these. He gives me two options, either take 16 hours community service and a 50 dolalr fine OR pay the full 153 dollar fine. For morale's sake..I take the community service and the 50 dollar fine, knowing that I BARELY have enough in my bank account to pay it.

So I get 16hours playing out in the cold (and presumeably soon wet) weather AND still have to pay a hefty fine when I volunteer my time to search and rescue any time, day or night, for long hours on end. Sound like bull**** to you?

I realize it could have been much worse, I could have payed 3 times that much. Why do I even try to be nice to these people if they get some weird kicks off of harassing me?

THe upside of it is, I will probably end up having to miss school to fufill this BS charge. And I am out 50 bucks for something that I knowingly FIXED and wasn't even a hazard to anyone else but the monger police trying to see my licence plate.
Chodes...

Sorry...its not been a good week...

Do you have an appeal process in Oregon? If so I strongly suggest you do so.

I already signed the papers to do community service.
If this person is as much a chode as all the other people I have dealt with, I don't wanna be responsible for my actions *grr*

An appeal with get you a differnt judge......you will get shafted on being the community slave for 16 hours. But you would get the satisfaction of beating the SOB.....

It just strikes me as odd I guess...I serve on Search and Rescue (volunteer) and at the drop of a page, tromp out into the woods in almost any conditions to help find lost people...
You'd think this meant something to someone....so far all it means is "you have to lay low"

I am on a real rampage...ya know...with my burned out licence plate lights and all *grr*

Not everything in life is fair.

You can spend a lot of time and a lot of effort trying to fight "city hall".

In this case, you probably won't get anywhere.

The best possible solution, unfortunately, is to lay low and stay off the radar.

It's not fair, and others will tell you to fight it on principle, but, this will be a losing proposition, IMHO.

Personally I think its total B#*& SH*% , most places give you a equipment repair ticket and if you prove its been fixed they drop the issue. You only pay here if you refuse to fix it.

I agree with this...and as far as I knew this is how it was..
Is the judge trying to punish me for my previous auto accident? I wasn't cited becuase I took care of buisness WITHOUT the police department, filed the stuff, and continued.

I don't plan on fighting it...I am just very upset about the whole ordeal. I was looking forward to going down there today and having them toss the ticket out...not punish me for existing under the sun...

I get to call community service Wednesday of next week.
I don't plan on letting this affect how often I drive...driving at night is pretty much the only calming activity I have (apart from ranting here ).
I REFUSE to believe that becuase I am a part of a volunteer organization, I should have to sit at home instead of go enjoy my mercedes and the scenery.

I wish this was with the McMinville courthouse...atleast over there they are FAIR and reasonable...

I am still considering if Officer Powell got to my judge before I got a chance to present things as they are...

*shug*

I'll try to subdue the rants...just trying to see if I am still in reality or not I guess
