is 1983 300D Turbo CLASSIC?
Hi All,
I am thinking to buy diesel car. There is 1983 300D Turbo, with 186 k miles for $3800 miles, in southern california. the seller claims to be in outstanding conditions. I checked the emdunds and for the best is $1202 for private party. What am I missing here? The seller told me it is more than 20 years old, so it is classic car? Is it? I do not think all the cars can be classic, becuase they are 20+ yrs old. Thank you all Sam |
oaouda,
If all 20 year old cars were classics, most of the cars in Junk Yards would be classics. I would say to be a classic, a car would to have to be a limited production model. Thus a 300D would never be a classic. P E H |

They qualify for classic plates in most states, it's an age thing.
By it's meret as a fine automobile, and especialy being chrome and shiny with a nifty looking interior, sure I'd say it's a classic. People stare at mine when I pull in a gas station... Re: book value. About any book value is worthless for older cars, it's supply and demand, and market value. Any running, non terminaly rusty 300D should be worth $1000-$1500 I believe, a truly nice one would be worth $3500, sure. But beware, *nice* is a relative term.. |
