Anti-Seize on 617 GPs?

Is it OK to use anti-seize on the 617 pencil-point GPs? Regular anti-seize like used for spark plugs (you know, in a GAS car :-)

Thanks.

That is what the machinist advised me to do for my 606 engine. How can it hurt?

I don't know whether you can do it or not but just for argument's sake, Porsche does not recommend the use of anti-seize on spark plugs on the 911. I believe they say it can interfere with proper grounding.

I have my head off. screwed 3 GPs in with and 3 without. Checked resistance and can't tell the difference between 1 GP with and 1 without. In the past, yes. Currently the anti-sieze is copper based and has not shown to interfere with the grounding AFAIK

on aluminum heads you have dissimular metals and therefore the galvonic thing.......

But the 617 is Cast iron head and you won't....but can't see how it would harm anything.

I've seen lug bolts and nuts broken off too. All steel or iron. now I do mine with anti-sieze.

Let's see, my can of Anti-Seize is by far my oldest and most trusted tool. I purchased the can of stuff from JC Whitney when I was 14 years old in 1964. That can has been with me and anti-seizing stuff on every car I've owned. I was asking mostly due to the possible grounding issues. When I change them I'll use a smidge, can't hurt I don't think.

There is plenty of thread area with a metal-metal contact to pass current, once the plug is tight. The anti-seize is, in addition to lubrication, providing a barrier to moisture which would cause the corrosion that results in seizing.

Thanks.
when i replaced all 5 glow plugs recently you can bet i used anti-seize paste on the new ones! it was in celebration of getting all the old ones out cleanly!!
with our new england salty climate it is essential imo.
