1984 300D steering wheel upgrade to a 2003 model

Steering wheel upgrade to a 2003 model

I just bought this steering wheel in hopes of installing it on my 1984 300D

Is this possible or did I just waist my money?

click here to view the wheel

You probably wasted your money. Did you get an airbag with that wheel? If not, I suggest you check out prices.
What's wrong with the wheel on the car now?

I can tell you it is a smaller wheel, and will block your view of the instrument cluster.

Don't know whether wheel will bolt on.

I found an airbag cover online for 35 bucks

Nothing is wrong with the current wheel I just like the more modern style

To get the wheel off- pry the star off (gentle) your old wheel and put some weight on the bolt that is not visible. Can't remember the size, sorry. Might take some serious grunt. I used a cheater bar and it took over 200 lbft (or whatever my overweight ass translates as) to turn the one on my SE.

I was nervous about leaning on the steering lock, but my mechnic told that I would not break the (lock) bolt.

Post your results for future reference

Didn't know one could purchase an airbag 'cover.' Your update may work yet.
