here you go-

I have a nice 1987 300DSDL- I bought it a few weeks back.

Same Memphis owner since 1990. 040 Black exterior/ Medium Red interior. Original paint, nice interior. 184k miles since new. I have an absurd amount of reciepts since '90 at about 30k miles. When I say this I mean around 60-70 seperate repair invoices. Prior owner was quite meticulous. Car has had trap campaign, recalls, etc..

At present the car needs a new sunroof motor, tube for the cable, and bridge. My MB tech has it in his shop and I'll have it back in a week or so.

I am planning on listing it on Ebay without reserve. I paid up for it, due to it being so nice, and I expect it to fair well at auction.

I also have a single owner 1991 350SDL with 71k certified miles,Anthracite ext/grey interior, no prior paint, non-smoking owner. Near mint condition inside and out .Also soon to be ebayed.

And a single owner 1993 300SD (W140 S class) car with 153k miles, anthracite/grey int , no prior paint , excellent records.

I have a few more. I have been buying and holding diesels all winter, and I am about to start selling them @ 1 per week on seven day auctions until such time that I exhaust my supplies.

With that much interest I suspect it will go quite a bit higher Herb.
Where do you find the majority of the Benz's you sell Herb?

Wow, $14,500. I really thought it would go for more; somebody got a nice deal.

$14,500 is a little low, but not that low. The used car market is going down the drain.

Consdidering that the last one from November was just a shade under $20K, and it was virtually the same vehicle, this one is clearly a bargain.

it was a bargain.

Perhaps the market has spoken?

My sales are without reserve, sometimes to my dismay....

Car is sold to the high bidder.

Also depends on who wants what. For instance, if I was in the market I would have offered more than 14500 because I wanted it. Probably closer to 20K. However, because I have already bought mine I did not bid on it. I think it is all about the timing. Another thing is that this is after X'mas and everyone has bills to pay. That may factor into the equation.

My dismay too because if it was selling a couple months ago, I probably would have bought it in late Nov for more than 14500.

I'm a little dismayed myself that you don't use a reserve. E-bay, as you are well aware is quite fickle. Many times we see a vehicle that will not sell for $3K. It goes in the next time and a whole new set of bidders come out and send it up to $4.5K.

You never know when two people must have that specific car.

I can't afford to use a reserve.

I agree that yes, I probably should use a reserve, but I've got about 5-7 vehicles per week coming in, and, I have to keep them rolling. Yes, no reserve can be painful at times, but I have to keep the money turning too, so I can't be particularly proud of one vehicle , as I can turn the $$ , the next week for one that is profitable. You don't win every time.

In reality, the car that I sold in November wasn't as nice as this example, and the guy who bought the car in Nov for $19,500 was a dealer in northern CA, and he sold it for $22,500 as soon as it hit his lot...Go figure..

I offered this to him, but he (like me) has way too much inventory and couldn't pay for it...My saving grace is that I bought a 1970 280SE 3.5 cab this month...

$22.5K for a vehicle that is six years old, completely out of warranty, and with 160K on the clock. I'd sure like to know what the buyer of that vehicle is thinking?

I'm quite sure he could have found one with 75K fewer miles for the same price, if he looked around a bit.

Tell us more about the 3.5 cab. Those cars go for big money, as they should.

Where do you fin these cars? Estate sales? Behind silos? Abandoned barns???
