24K plus tax and licencing on my C280 when I totaled it. That is what the E300 TD cost so I figure that is what it cost me to repair the C280.

Roughly 600 bucks (canadian) for parts + labourf for full 168 km maintenance. I bought all the parts and my indy mechanic did the job. So far not a single problem. (knock on wood)

PS: when I went over our 95 E300D records from new, total the PO spent $5500 on maintenance and small repairs over the 9 years that he had the car from new.

Take a look at Fastlane and price out the parts, then add labor if you will have it done.

Back to the show.

Do upgrades count? My wheels ran me $1,100, but they sure look nice.

$4500 for a low mileage engine installed

$3000 overhaul + R/R transmission by shop.

$1000 labor Front end rebuild, I supplied the parts at a cost of $400, shop installed and performed 4 wheel alignment after.

This seems like a lot of money, but what do I expect for a 20+ year old car that I am the fourth owner of. I now have the unenviable task of extracting a frozen ignition lock tumbler. Wish me luck. I do not want to give that job to a pro, it might cost almost as much as one of the above jobs.

Dieselheads >>>>>>>> Rejoice

$2,000 total for every rubber suspension part and every part to rebuild my 84 300D smudgepot. The car itself was a gift from a friend. I love it.

But..... I built a 640 HP 590 FPT 427 Chevy big block, (Venolia pistons, Carrillo rods, Isky roller, CSC crank, Holley 1050, Edlebrock manifold, Vertex mag, Milodon oil pump and girdle, and dry sump) for less money than it costs for a single set of Mahle pistons and cylinders for a 3.5 liter Porsche

And in 1980 I had to buy the rear cylinder head for a 1972 Lamborgini Miura.
Only $8,800. Bare head.

Italian cars ....... be afraid..... be very afraid.

im up to about $200 for a B2 piston replacement, havent even touched the car yet....i just went and got most of the stuff ill need to get it done today...$153 for all but 2 of the parts i need...$47 for the floor jack and jack stands...still need a spring kit and a bushing seal and fluid....factor in the beer and some random tool ill have to go buy when i get halfway through the job, and im looking at close to $250....probably couldve had it done for me for not much more than that...

i have another issue too, with the front end...ill post a pic on here in the next day or so and let you guys be the judge of what itll cost to fix it...i dont think ill be able to tackle this one on my own....doesnt look like your run of the mill R&R job...might have to break out the welder on this one...only problem is, i dont have a welder, or know how to weld
