The S430 swb has a 116.7 inch wheelbase. The lwb has a 121.45 inch wheelbase.

The S430 swb is shorter than an W126 SD by several inches at 198 inches length(about 8 inches longer than a 210 E-Class).

The S430 lwb is longer by it's swb cousin by about 4.5 inches in the rear door.

can get the sticker from MB USA

Folks,

It was posted somewhere here before.. you can write to MBUSA with your VIN and get a copy of the original sticker. My car was $50,450 list with no options (sunroof included at n/c). I wasn't shopping for them then, but I remember hearing they sold for significantly below sticker.

Below? Are you sure?

The W126 was the most popular and most recognized sedan in the world at the time. They commanded a very high price, and held very strong(almost ludicrous) resale values(the W140's were similar, however time and the markets, changed).
Lexus delivered a serious blow to Mercedes in '90, however.

You might think me a "W126 fanboy". Don't take me for boasting. It's the truth...You can look it up in a book.

I was at my mechanic's this evening and fired up this SDL he wants to sell me in a package deal(81 300TD & this SDL for $3500) the car lights right off cold and idles beautifully--no smoke at all. I had this car as a loaner for 3 days 2 months ago(shifted beautifully then) and he told me the transmission glitch occurred practically instantly. He drove the car to his bank a few blocks from his garage and when he came out and fired the car up and drove off-the car did NOT want to shift out of 1st gear. He is THAT swamped with work he is unable to check it out-He doesn't do trannies anyhow. Most of his customers he loans these cars out to has evolved into the very high end MB owners and they do NOT enjoy diesel vibration, sound, ect. Got to make the "Right Entrance" into your Million dollar condo entrance-I don't know how that story goes-I'm a customer on the low end of the economic scale compared to them. Very Low End.

The Window sticker for my '87 SDL (Texas Car) shows a base price of $48,840 with an adder of $605 for the Power Rear Seat, which was the only paid option.

Average EPA mileage was shown as 22 City and 23 Highway with an annual estimated fuel cost of $682 - I WISH

Ha! I hope you're not getting 22 mpg city 23 mpg highway. That would be considered a little bit low for the SDL.

Thanks to the removal of the trap oxidizer, this helped to improve ratings back to '86 specifications. Highway 27 mpg, city 25 mpg. Range may vary from 23 mpg to 32 mpg according to sheet.

Prices vary in MSRP from dealer to dealer, and chances are, the later your car was produced in the year, the more of a markdown there will be, of course, from the initial 51K or so.

Wish I had the change for a nice W140, and the money tree needed to keep it that way

I agree, I am getting an average of 27mpg (US Gallon) and 28+ on highway runs. The Trap Oxidiser was removed under warranty sometime in the Nineties. I just wish my annual fuel cost was still only $682
