Think we could bolt that system onto a 1950's 190D?

You'd have to make sure it would pass the "stomp" test first.

This idea isn't in the same spirit of the idea mentioned in this thread, but I'd like to someday stick an AMG modified 560 engine in a W123 coupe. At least it'd be all MB.

Me a 502" big block chevy............in a W116........if gasolene ever becomes cheap and plentiful.

But in the meanwhile I would love one of these diesel super turbos......like the 603 these guys performed miracles on.

That'd be kind of my second choice but with a small block chevy instead. I'd probably more likely do that considering the cost of the AMG motor.
Maybe I'd just find an old MB V8 from a wrecked W126 or W116 and try one of those just to keep the car all MB. Heck its already cheaper to drive a V8 MB gasser here in Washington than a diesel, but I wonder for how much longer.
Gas is slowly creeping up now. Diesel hasn't for the last week.

I am not sure of its condition as it has been sitting there some time.
It doesn't look like its been there ages...but its been in that yard for a few seasons.
My friend and I always wanted to go ask them if its for sale or anything...its sad to see a w116 just sitting, probably in the begging stages of rotting away.

Spring is coming to Finland

Keep watching the thead http://www.kolumbus.fi/valtonen.motorsport/, new pics are coming regularly, videos and dynocharts when we get rid of the snow.

Some other new diesel developments in thread: http://mersuforum.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19899

See page 1 for pics and check the dynocharts ( and pics ) in page 2. Turbo looks quite impressive in size. 482 hp in 190E 2.3 16v original body.

Very nice! The HX40 is a good size turbo. For those who don't know the HX35 feeds the 5.9L Cummins Dodge Ram's the HX40 is an upgrade turbo, it pushes about 800cfm!

How many bar (or psi) was that running?

This is HX50, pressure figures are not yet released.

And it is street legal.

I wonder what sort of boost levels they are running intercooled...and if they are using stock headgaskets and head bolts......

I know the HX35 can only make about 38psi safely, the HX50 would probably be around 55psi?!

What I don't understand is why the torque is so low, that looks more like a gasser's torque than a diesel. Diesels normally have several times more torque than horsepower. The hp from that dyno was 433 or so, the torque was in the upper 400 ft-lbs.

This is 3 litre 12 valve Diesel giving the best torque @ 4000 to 5000 rpm, not 2000. Standard internals of the engine and manual transmission are already crying for mercy. 24 valve engine has better torque figures but automatic transmission should be reinforced to withstand this torture.

Turbo in that W201 is HX40 with little bigger compressor that usually used.

Torgue is quite reasonable, no more is needed. These 24 valve engines provide 30-35 % more torgue but it is not a good thing anymore.

I quess 600 hp is close at the end of this year. There are some stronger parts we have, but I will not assembly them until after the summer. However some of my friends are still building their engines and will install these parts, this way they can run with bigger output already this summer.

Adding supercharger is just not needed in OM606, there is no real lag with stock cylinder hear, and if you modify it, it will flow even better.
