ALDA adjustment and more
I adjusted the ALDA for the first time this weekend. :) :sun_smile I cannot believe the difference. The car runs like new. It has plenty of get up and go, runs quieter and the transmission stopped flaring. I had to remove the black plastic cap and thin metal housing around the lock nut in order to loosen it. The metal was just slightly thicker than aluminum foil. I re-covered it with a rubber plug, although I don't see why it is necessary to keep the thing covered.
On a less positive note, the wife is giving me more pressure to end this project and I may have to sell the benz and get something more conventional. It would be a shame, but... ... I can always buy another one in a few years :o It sure has been fun. :P |
Congratulations, I plan to do the same to my 124 soon, as soon as it gets warmer outside. I live in MN and don't have the luxury of a heated garage. My car is really sluggish, especially when merging onto the highway or going up an incline. I hope the ALDA adjustment cures it for me.

I have a pump with an aluminum 'cone' on top the ALDA. Looks like this one might need to be drilled out to gain access to the adjustment.
I have never seen one like this before. It is off a euro 300SD...Bert |

Bert,
On all that I've seen, that's just an anti-tamper covering that just "peels" off, revealing the screw and lock-nut underneath. |
