When we first got the Crown Vic, it seemed Ford developed spark plug wires that appealed to rats. They grabbed dog kibble and stashed it under the hood, chewed on the wires for dessert and caused the car to throw a check engine light due to cylinder misfire.

I still have the service writer's diagnosis for laughs. Yes, I'm a gearhead and should have looked under the hood myself, but the car was only a year old and I just assumed it was the emission controls acting up.

The wierdest one was back in the days when I had more time than money ( i still don't have money, just no time either) and I was heavy into building Corvairs.
I had a free spare 102HP engine that I thought I'd refurbish, and somewhere when I started assembling the engine and when I blew it up again, a mouse or two had entered the crankcase. I found a teeny tiny spinal column and a couple of ribs in the oil pump adapter the next time I tore it down---

I was looking at a 40's Ford Truck that had been converted to a carnival truck that had been retired from the circus and was put out to pasture in a field. I popped the hood to find, to my surprise, a huge woodchuck sitting on the engine! Then, w/o hesitation, the damn thing just lunged at me!! To this day the only time I've seen a woodchuck jump like that. I dove to the side, much to the amusement of my friend who was standing behind the truck and just saw me dive, not the creature hurtling through the air. Obviously scared the whoosis out of me. My dear friend laughed all the way back into town. I didn't think it was all that funny at the time.
