Extended warranties for S350Ds?

Hello Ladies & Gents:

This is the first time I've come out of the woodwork to ask a question. First of all, thanks so much to all of you for the invaluable advice and guidance you give!

I'm considering buying a 1994 S350D for the sheer comfort of the thing (I have a bad hip). I'm all too aware of the reputation that the 1990s 140 chassis diesels have, hence I'm wondering about extended warranties. The model I'm considering has only 84,000 miles, so I would think *someone* would be willing to warranty it.

Any thoughts, suggestions, or experiences?

Best,

Damon

I know a lot of newer say 97 and up W140's are sold with warranties. Call an aftermarket warranty company and see what they say. I wouldn't expect much after 10 years all bets are usually off.

Buy an S320 for what a nice S350D goes for you can get a 99 S320 with half the miles and a warranty. I like diesel a lot but I wouldn't touch a diesel W140 because the gas ones are so much better and cheaper.

If you can get someone to offer you a good warranty, jump on the deal and RUN! Those are nice cars if you have insurance against breakage.

Before purchasing any warranty, read it and understand what's covered, and what's not!

I had an extended warranty, many years ago, that covered interally lubricated engine parts, but didn't help when the head gasket blew!

You get what you sign up for.

Best Regards,
Jim
