engine

I may be wrong but that could be a small dispalcement Detroit Diesel. Penske was selling to Chrysler jeep, through an Italian distributor the Detroit Diesels for years. Mercedes engines are CDI engines and in Europe are 2.2, 2.7, and 3.2 L

If I remember correctly, that is a new design engine. Wonder how it would work in a 123?

Daimler-Chrysler decided not to use a Mercedes-Benz CDI engine in the Jeep Liberty. Instead it is a VM Motori 2.8L VNT/VGT turbo 4 cylinder manufactured in Italy. Apparently the engine has been out for quite some time and shouldn't have reliability issues, though that is yet to be proven in the USA.

Word I get is that engine has a very poor reputation in europe in the vehicles it has been in. Granted this version is suppose to be an upgrade from those.

Warranty --- NO ???

HELLO?

(must be misprint) No warranty?

('rather call the Toyota dealer in PANAMA for a 4CYL turbo-diesel 4 Runner !

You know the truck and ENGINE are bulletproof !)

Nothing against V M Motori they make EXCELLENT Marine Diesels.

BUT, Chrysler couldn't engineer it's way out of a paper bag.

I was able to check one of them out at the auto-show here last week, they are pretty nice little jeeps, the driver area is very comfortable, and its got all the stuff for off roading, the differential locking selector and so on. Volkswagen had about 4 tdi models on display, huge diesel preference from many brands, the ford trucks, the GMC trucks....dodge cummins cutaway engine display, the sprinter was there, it was quite a wonderful time indeed. The MB area had NO CDI on display! We were going to complain but never got around to it....they had mostly the uper end cars on display, the SL, SLK, CLK, C240 Kompressor....and the 320ML and such. They all (except the SL and the ML) feel sooo small inside compared to my SD, I'd have a hard time *downgrading* to that. I have successfully gone completely off subject....they had Maybach's there too....all I can say is:

Jeep Liberty

Going to Chicago Auto Show Monday the 14th. You can bet I will be checking this car out as well as any other diesel on the premises. I will be complaining to the Mercedes people if the CDI is not there. Joe
