Sears is currently holding a sale on Craftsman tools. "50% off all individual Craftsman wrenches and sockets." But apparently not all wrenches are created equal. When I attempted to buy a 15" Craftsman adjustable wrench, the normal price rung up. Why? According to the sales lady, an adjustable wrench is not an "individual" wrench. She went on to explain that adjustable wrenches can to adjusted to different sizes, therefore an adjustable wrench could never be considered an "individual" wrench.
A conversation with the department manager was even more enlightening. His position: "An adjustable wrench is not a wrench."
So if anyone needs wants a good deal on certain wrenches and sockets, head on down to Sears. Just be aware that "all" really means "some" at the home of "bait & switch."

Sorry, but I am not with you on this one. An adjustable is not a wrench to me either. In fact I put them in my pliers drawer. (although they are deffinately not pliers.)

It is a great time to buy individual wrenches and sockets at 50% off. I was there tonight and wish I would have asked this question to the forum members last night. For those of us just getting started, what are the more common metric sizes to buy if we can't afford to buy a large set? Are deep sockets needed more than "regular" sockets? For the most common repairs what sizes do you recommend for the 603 engines?

Ah Sears... I had a job there a few years ago. I was in the Lawn & Garden department, but usually had to sell things from Hardware too. They are most definitely the home of the Bait & Switch technique, even though they specifically train their sales associates on how to avoid being busted for a Bait & Switch scam (substitutions, discounts, etc.). I'm glad that I don't work there anymore.

Anyway, 50% off on all (read most) hand tools is a great deal. I might just have to head down there tomorrow.

hahahahaha I was just thinking that the other day! Only MB would think to use pretty much the same sizes.

8mm, 10mm, 13mm, and 17mm.

Dont forget 12mm if you need to do exhaust work and 19mm(aka3/4") to adjust your a/c belt, oh wait how 'bout 14mm to do the valves----ah heck just buy a set

Oh yea speaking of Sears tools, their prices are RIDICULOUS

For my non professional lifestyle Harbor Freight's cheap tools mostly does it. I know some folks here complained about how easy they break. I have yet to have anything break on me. Just gotta use the right sized tools for the given job!

Really I have found Chraftsman tools to be a bargin compared to Snap on ect. I like the lifetime warranty, I broke a 1/2 drive and they gave me a new one no questions asked. Unless you use them every day or like to collect tools Snap on is really overkill.

Has anyone used those fast wrench's? I was thinking about getting a set.
