This is the answer I was looking for.

Oil is the correct lube, that makes good sense.

Grease may be good in older worn hinges, or it may be bad as the bube dries and rubs out of the base, and you have a lot of junk left in there.

Since there are no "seals" on the hinges, oil will just coat the pin and hinge with dust-attractant, then drip out.

The chainsaw blade lubers work perfectly for greasing the hinges. I use a very thin viscosity synthetic grease in it to lube the hinges. The grease stays, but keeps dust and dirt out if you lube them regularly.

so the needle on the grease gun, from what Ive seen they have a diagonal tip. How far do you push in the bearing in the opening? As far as it will go? can you damage the bearing or spring?

does the grease ooze out of the holes after you puncture the boot with the needle? Or do you get under the boot somehow?

126 Hinge Lube

Walmart sells a chainsaw pin point pressure luber that fits and works perfectly for Mercedes hinges. The whole grease gun was made in Germany. They charge $5.00 for it.

I remember seeing a thread about lubing the door hinges where Chad300tdt showed a picture of a grease gun he purchased, made specifically for this purpose. If I can find the thread I'll reference it.
