Ebay definitely could do with some competition.

sold for 11.6

Folks,

I was watching but was away from the computer the last 2 days. The car sold for 11.6K from what I see on the e-bay listing. Brian had it scoped out pretty close at $11k. That seems a bit high compared to other recent diesel 140 listings for this mileage, but add in the excellent marketing and it was about what should be expected.

Chuck, I don't think it sold at all.

E-bay pulled the listing because they are a bunch of morons and then reinstated it.

Now, AFAIK, Herb has to start it all over again.

I'm fairly sure it would have gone well above $11.6K if it stayed for the full 10 days.

Herb, it looks like the SD wasn't relisted last night. Also, I didn't get the email from eBay saying that the listing was pulled in error and was being relisted, though I did get the first one notifying of delisting. Do you have any updates from them on what's up?

Hate to see a good effort wasted but it happens, especially with eBay and Paypal.

Makes for a good opportunity to make an offer on the car if anyone is seriously interested.

The old saying is that there is no bad publicity, in today's world I am not sure that is always true.

curious

Guys,

You may be right... but I'm confused. I don't remember seeing what a ( or any) listing looks like after is was ended early. I was "watching" the auction so I can still see it ->

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4526366466&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT

It says auction ended, mototools is the winner. Maybe that is some bug in the ebay software that lists the last bidder as a winner if the auction is ended for whatever reason. Ebay does seem to end some auctions for the oddest reasons. Maybe it was the music 8).

I wonder if Mr. Mototools is trying to take advantage of that bug. The car is a really sharp example and bargain at $11,600 - to the extent a used W140 can ever be considered a bargain.

You have a secret vintage Mercedes plant under your home. That's it, isn't it? It is the only explaination.

Oh cool... you have two more rod benders for sale.

And yes, that car does look sharper than a razor blade.

Nope, that's not it. He borrows the stock from the local M/B dealer, photographs it beautifully, and then returns the vehicle to the dealer.

The one you get when you win the auction looks nothing like that vehicle.

I don't like this building in the background as much as some in other auctions. It may be costing you a bid here or there. It looks like they make you park the car at the back door.

Great service record.

Could you delay this for a month ?
Trying to get a loan. Maybe I'll shoot for it.

I think it'll go roughly about $9000.

This one went for $14.6K with about 126K miles
